I'm Honorary Professor of Telecommunications here at Stirling. I work for Technolution BV based in Gouda in the Netherlands and I look after UK operations for the company. Technolution is a twenty year old organisation of some 100 high grade technologists working on integrated hardware, programmable logic and software solutions for the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), high tech and financial markets. We're constantly on the lookout for smart and capable engineers who love engineering and who don't want a 'fast track to management'. Feel free to drop me a note if you fit the bill.
Previously, I worked for Telcordia Technologies on the East Coast of the USA where I was Chief Scientist in the Networked Systems Research lab, responsible for all sorts of bits and pieces including for liaison with European research actvities, automotive initiatives and directing strategic research. I worked for Telcordia from 1999 until May 2007 except for a spell with Global Inventures on the west coast of the US. I've spent the past twenty or so years of my life collecting a paycheque from Telecom-centric companies, so I suppose that gives me some sort of background in the area. I'm doing a lot more automotive work nowadays, especially in the areas of intelligent infrastructure and on vehicle systems.My role here at Stirling is to provide commercially oriented input into the teaching, research and commercialisation programmes in the department and to stimulate new areas of work. Feel free to send me an e-mail (Just remove 'nospam' from this address before using it!).
My GPG key (6A8BD420) can be downloaded from http://wwwkeys.pgp.net. You can get it with something like;
gpg --recv-keys --keyserver wwwkeys.pgp.net 6A8BD420.
I'm afraid I've just realised how out of date some of this material is -- please check back in a week or so (16th Dec) and I'll try to have updated it by then!
